DESHUMANIZACION

Why is this the life so many Americans have? The spread of sweat, rotten air, mechanical air, the site of concrete, running, lights, so much stimulus even an ADHD person is overwhelmed. People walk by each other, not even noticing the other. In their own little world, their ipod world. Their cell phone world. The world where they do not have to be present, they live in no time frame but their own, separated from everyone. Where is the pleasure of good food, good company and sharing moments with people? Now it is all controlled no spontaneous adventures, no taking chances. Good company, a person can not find on the street, it is even hard to find it at home. Is it fear? Afraid of what? Is it because there is too much stimulus around that is causing people to remove themselves. But why not have dinner with your roommates? That is a cultural turn that America has occurred, TV dinners. Our culture has turned to mass media, to shows, to reality TV. It allows people to have something to talk about at work, it allows them to escape themselves and intelligence. They can zone out, become a vegetable. I believe that TV has ruined a culture that was so intimate, cared about each other, now, people do not know their neighbors, do not care about who lives next door. We have become closed. In the 1930s our diplomatic stance was isolationism, we depended on ourselves. Now our people have become isolationists within themselves as our diplomatic stance depends on everyone else. What happened and where will we go?
